View Full Version : Amp GAS'in (or is it AAS'in?)
Hey all...
Looking really hard at a Mesa Stiletto ACE combo. Tried one out recently and this thing was so versatile, incredible sound.
Anyone have any opinions on it?
Thanks!

Never played one Bill. I would love to check one out though. I am a big fan of Mesa products. My next amp purchase will be a Reinhardt Titan head. I have been looking for a low wattage Marshall-type amp for a while and hopefully this will do the trick.

That won't be the next amp you have though :D
I was gasing for a Stielleto after I told my triple rect but it was at the time that they stopped making for a period so I guess it died down. I played with one in GC and loved the thing then I went back a month later and they said they hadn't been shipped anymore for sometime and Mesa was tweaking something on them...oh well...I always seem to come back to the peavey classic series happily !

Thanks Tommy, Ill have to check out the Peavey Classic too!
I sprung my Stiletto pitch on the wife and she nearly kicked me out. So badly that even a peavey classic may be too much :)) My guitar budget is wrapped up in the Schroeder, which is where it should be :)

haha I love reading those types of things...reassures me that getting married is not my bag of tea :D
But Do look into a used Classic...I just bought a classic 50 head for $250...beat up but man it sounds good...and you can get a classic 30 combo for 300 and change and that's good for everything and can run a cabinet easily

HAHA well glad i could help Tommy!! :D
Heres a great one to convince you. About five years ago i got a nice hefty bonus from my company. The wife says "You've worked hard, you should reward yourself, go get that new guitar you want".. i had been eyeing a McCarty. All is well. 24 hrs later, she walks in the door with her hands LOADED with shopping bags. I mean a dozen or more. I ask her whats up, she says "Well if you can go buy a 2,000 guitar, i can go shopping, its only fair". AHHH!!!!! Well worth it for my mccarty though :)

SUCKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Tommy is the PV Classic enabler. Really are great amps. We found a guy by me that does some capicitor mods. So buy one for $300ish, change the tubes to JJ's, get a mod done and even change the speaker to a Vintage 30....and boom. For about $500 you have a killer amp. And the 30 is really loud.

I told jason a few months ago when we talked on the phone for the first time that amps didn't really float my boat. It was all about the guitars. Since then I have bought a Divided by 13 head and cab, a Two Rock head and cab and placed orders for a Rheinhardt Ampzilla and a Greer Cam 18 heads. Maybe I need to reconsider the amp comments I made to Jason.

be careful of what you don't wish for Paul ;) :D
Those are some sweet amps. Which TR do you have and will the Reinhardt have power scaling?

The Two Rock is the Onyx model which they don't make anymore. No powerscaling on the Ampzilla. Realistically both of these have more power than I need so I might need to get something to tame them a bit. I think the Ampzilla is about a month away from being done but I sure like the clips I've seen and heard of it.

The Greer is still on order. I don't have a firm handle on when it should be done. I might have to track down one of those Peavey Classics in 30 watts while I wait.
