I was wondering if any of you guys had some suggestions for my wife and I. We're heading to New York after christmas and over new year and are wondering if anyone has any suggestions for what to do on new years eve.

Being Irish (and to totally reinforce the stereotype) we'd like somewhere we can have a few beers/glasses of wine too.

Any advive would be greatly appreciated.

there's only one place you have to go in NYC on new years, and that's Times Square.

Yeah I've thought that may be an option. I've seen a few of the 'cheesy' restuarants have a view eh TGI Friday, Bubba Gump Shrimp etc. I wasn't sure of how to get in, would be great if you could sip a cold beer while wathching the ball drop but I know the square itself is an alcohol free zone (my wife isn't too keen on a 6-8 hour wait with no loo's.

Think I'll need to be a bit more research.

Thanks for the feedback

I only went to NYC on NYE once. Total zoo. Subway scene was nuts.

If you are going to be in NYC for a few days, you should try to catch Tommy (Guitarnyc) in the Blue Man Group. Fantastic show.

Cool, I must hit him up closer to the time to see if he's got a gig over the duration of our stay. Should be fun. And with the current £/$ exchange I've a feeling some shops could get a hit too - goods on your side of the pond are half the price of here. Getting excited already!
