I know its a bit of a strange question but is there any specific way that rosewood should be stored?

I'm changing jobs after christmas and hope to have a bit more free time and, gulp, have been inspired to take a crack at making a guitar (or more than one if they turn out ok) myself. I've been doing a bit of research and have bought a few pieces of old growth brazilian rosewood (not for use on my 1st project though) and was wondering if there is any specific way (other than in a dry area stacked with spacers) I should be considering.

Also, what size do you use for neck blanks J., this stuff will pretty much be intended for fingerboards but you never know down the line........

Cheers

Allowing for airflow all around the boards is a good idea by using "stickers." That way you are not drying one side more than another which can cause warping and checking. I find that humidity at 40% and temperature at 75 degrees F is optimum.

For a typical Schroeder, I need a MINIMUM of 1.75" thick and 2.75" wide. The thickness is to allow for the back headstock angle. Obviously, the steeper and longer your headstock, the thicker your blank needs to be. If you don't want to glue on headstock ears then you will need a wider neck blank.

Hope that helps!
