By the way, the little pig snout (little pinholes) will be positioned in a pickup cavity so they won't show!

that piece of wood looks completely different tahn the first picture you posted Jason...is it the lighting ?

The biggest reason is that the surface is extremely rough in the latest pic so you can only see the grain and not the quilt. The way the light reflects off a smooth surface is much different than how it reflects off a rough one.

Hi Mike!
Here are some pictures of what Jason is up to today... We are trying to get a few guitars into the booth next week. This guitar really brightens up in the sunlight too! Jason is calling the color "Paua" because it really matches the headstock inlay.

Here is the body taped off around the maple back.

And here it is. Look at the quilt!! I can't wait to see this with finish on it! Excellent choice Mike!

Here are some updated pics of Mike's guitar. I wet-sanded it yesterday and cleaned up the neck pocket. Monday I got the paua side dots in. Today I drilled the holes for the string through ferrules on the top and back of the guitar. I actually came up with a really cool jig for this that lined up the holes perfectly. Nice when a plan comes together! The neck looks a bit dull in the pics because it has not been oiled yet. It will be really dark when it is hit with oil.

By the way, the last two pics that show thestring through holes were taken after the wet sanding was complete. It is now ready for buffing and then final assembly. This guitar will have gold hardware so the ferrules on the top and back will also be gold. Should look really nice on this finish color!

The home stretch! Here is Mike's guitar with almost all of the pieces together. Still needs a nut and strings!!

http://www.schroederguitars.com/photos/Mike%20H/IMG_4993.jpghttp://www.schroederguitars.com/photos/Mike%20H/IMG_4997.jpg

A couple more angles... Check out how the sapwood (lighter colored wood) on the neck comes to a point right at the bass side of the end of the fingerboard. The fingerboard and the neck blank were from the same piece of Braz and matched perfectly. Basically I cut off the fingerboard, routed the truss rod and glued it back together! The seam is virtually impossible to find.

Videos will be upoading today!! I got the guitar finished last night, wrapped up a few little details today. I will be recording videos in a few minutes, then packing it up for shipping to Ohio.

Mike, it has been a great ride with you! I appreciate your thoughts and our phone calls along the way. Like you told me a while back, "Having a guitar built should be a lot of fun." I hope it was for you as it was for me.

Yes Jason it has been great working with you on this build. I'm sure it won't be the last one either. What I like most about Schroeder guitars is the wounderfull taist you and your wife has from the signature S inlay to the small little things here and there even when you take pictures out side that is even classy. Thanks again and I will give a tone report soon.

Man...Mike always says that to the builders...then complains the whole dang time to me and Pai!! Jason send it to me and then I will forward it to Pai and he can forward it to Mike...its the least he deserves for all our pain and suffering having to listen to him wait out the build process!!!

I KEED I KEED!!! LOL Yup, Mike has said many many times that the fun of getting a guitar built is the interaction with the builders and the anticipation of seeing it all come together and I cant agree more! Of the builders I have talked to in my short time of playing guitar, by far and away Jason is one of the coolest cats out there and even though mine is only an RTS, its been an absolute joy getting to know him a bit along with the JZ Crew...

Mike I will give yo0u a shout later tonight...I am off to the hospital to see Emmy and "The Hammer"

tone Report?

Hello and sorry it took so long for a tone report, but here we go. First of all here are the the amps tested on
Carvin Ts-100
Fenders
Line 6 four of them
Mesa Boogie Rec.
Marshall tsl
Each amp has a distinktive tone from the rock to the bluse I love Pink Floyd type of music more to the classics. The guitar I had jason built was much from the past lessons of other guitars I have and had so the wood selections was on tee with what I was looking for, such as attac creamy sounds and good old rock in roll. I use the tone knobs much more now days for the tone I need. I give this guitar a 10 out 0f 10 great job Jason All my other guitars are also 10 out of 10 like my Thorn #157 Mcnaught single cut, Ernie Ball Axis each of the other guitars are a animal in it self. meaning they are differant. Sound clip on request.
