"Strat Killer" - Keeley DVD Guitar

Jason has periodically sent me pictures of this guitar being put together for the DVD and I thought it'd be nice to have them all in one thread so everyone can see.....The "STRAT KILLER" :)

I don't know the EXACT specs on the guitar but I think the body is Ash. The neck is a flamed maple obviously with a Braz Board. Jason and Robert Keeley thought it'd be best to take the old school strat style and vibe and put a little twist on it. I'm not sure which Keeley PUPS are in the guitar but they are Keeley PUPS. Hipshot bridge. I'm sure Jason can chime in and give us more specs if anyone cares but what you really want are pictures right ? :)

Man what an awesome looking guitar.
I wonder if it will sound in the strat realm. It's got the configuration but I do notice the body being a bit bigger??

I think it will definitely sound in the strat realm :)

The body difference was the first thing I noticed too. I think a little extra wood wouldn't hurt the sound of a strat :)

I think Jason said it was basically a modified version of his doublecut ???

Hey Guys,
It IS the same outline as the doublecut, just with the extended tab under the neck heel. The size of the body may look different because of perspective. I will take a pic of it next to my strat today. It is more round in the butt but has smaller horns than a strat. Overall it is about the same body mass as a strat. We'll see how it sounds very soon!

There ya have it...thanks for chiming in Jason...I think a comparison pic next to a Strat would be a great idea so we can all see the differences visually.

Personally I'm a sucker for shiny pick up rings so even if it was mounted to the body I might've added some shiny pick up rings for the look or some kinda freaky fancy guard to just look pretty.

I heard a rumor that Jason made some videos before sending it out. I'm taking it to Keeley's shop next weekend. Looking forward to seeing what they all think then it's onto the videos once I get the amp and all the pedals

I think the crazy rosewood PUP covers are pretty fancy and would outdo any pick guard Jason could've made/designed in such a short time frame :)

man that thing came out nice. Hell Jason sounds great showing the guitar off...maybe he can do half the video using that guitar :)

That thing has a lot of character depending on how hard you dig in/hit it. It really shows that off it seems.

BTW beautiful guitar in the background too ;)

So I just got back from Oklahoma and visiting the Keeley boys again. I had Jason ship the guitar there so they could see it and tweak little things that they wanted done. I didn't have an amp around me to plug it in for the first night but the neck on this thing is not only beautiful, it plays itself ! The feel of this thing is amazing and effortless.

The next day I took it into the Keeley shop and let them pass it around to enjoy the strat/single coil goodness ! They have it there now and will be shipping it out to me at the end of the week, then I'll be able to give a full report on it cranked through a Fender Deluxe Reverb or some other low wattage amp cranked to saturation heaven :)
