very cool, certainly off the beaten path!
What does that Redwood stuff sound like/resonate?
Also does chambering figure into the sound you are trying to get from the guitar, or is it all about the weight?
Since it is such a wicked looking Walnut top, my suggestion would be to go Natural finish!

Pai, The redwood(just under 1") should add resonance without weight. The mahogany is only 1 1/2" thick. So the redwood was added for correct thickness&will be a skeleton atop the traditional schroeder chamber carve. The thinking behind this was a more round hollow tone. Not really about weight relief.Although the mahogany is very heavy. You suggested natural. So why not got with it?Natural it is.

HOLD UP !!! Wait!!! Stop the presses!!! Don't we all get a vote?

OK now. Let me see. HMMMMMMM................................... How about Natural :)

PS - Specs sound great. Very well thought out. Congrats

A Pernambuco fretboard!?!?! Oh baby! First thing that leaps to mind is Ken Parker's new archtops. The Olive Branch (http://www.kenparkerarchtops.com/kenparkerarchtoa.html) has a Pernambuco fretboard. Now that's one totally #$%&ing classy guitar, if ya ask me. It sent me running for some Pernambuco back when I first saw it. But to be honest, at the time I came up empty. Everything I found was way overpriced or too small. But the J man's got some serious wood connections.

Ken's looks a little darker and richer than some I've seen that was more yellowish. His has a great vintage, aged look to it. I wonder if he stained it a little, or that's caused by whatever finish he used. I think it looks awesome.

Man oh man... Theon, this is going to be one classy guitar!

The Olive Branch appointments appear to be oiled. The raw wood I have here is straight grained light tan with grey streaks(fretboard). When oiled it turned a brown/orange similar to mahogany. The thread photo(thanks Racer) was cut as a bowl blank. My wood appointments will come out of that piece. It's over 50 years old. The neck on the PRS Paul's 28 is a nice example of this wood. Jason can craft an instrument better than all 28 of those. But mine can/will be played alot not collected. Thanks Athena

The Copperhead P90 pickups are out. They will be replaced by a Duncan Alnico V Staple in the bridge 8.8 K. The neck is a Gibson Alnico V Dogear 8.2 K.It's from an old Gibson archtop 1955/1957. Don't know for sure.
