Here's some thing I've been dying to record for the longest time. I've never found the right tones... Until now.

These Bareknuckle NailBomb 7s are amazing... Mind you, this is an Ibanez S7320 here...

I've never heard a 7 string sound like this... I'm VERY happy with the way the tones came out. Lemme know what you guys think... http://bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/Smileys/default/icon_biggrin.gif

P.S. Forgive the cheese and the sloppy playing.

I liked the song and the playing, the tone was cool but I think a little more 'ass' would take it to the next level. It sounded a little thin to my ears.

What was your signal chain?

Cheese ? Yes but I love me some good cheese and Groban is good cheese :)

Not sure what slop you were talking about...sounds great and yeah there were some great tones in there...what the chain to get that sound ? amp mic'ed or DI or what ??? You can't leave that info out :)

Heh... thanks... That was mainly my S7320 with BKP A5 Nailbomb 7s into a PODXTLive. I'm horrible at micing up amps, hence the "easy" way out.:) I notice some people who hear my lead tone from the bridge pup tend to say it's a little thin. I've not found any other pickup that gives me that nice screamy open wah tone yet with a good chunk of bass attached to it. I have no clue how Satriani gets his tone, though that's very much what I'm after. His 7 string pups aren't for sale. Heh...

Without knowing anything about Satriani other than watching him in awe on HDNET this weekend, i'd guess he is doing some sort of dual amp thing. He has unlimted resources so if you even get 80% of the way there you are doing a damn good job.

I have been using my pod XT live lately too. I got a baby in the house and I am mostly playing thru headphones now. Have you checked out the Axe FX? I am considering selling my amps to get one.

Axe FX? I've heard of it, but not really sure what it is... I wouldn't sell me amp though... You'll never know when you'd just want to blast it out when the kids are in school. (My son is 15 months, so I know what you're going through... Heh...)

Its basically a POD on steriods with the price to match unfortunately. It sounds really good from what I have heard. But yeah, blasting a tube amp is a feeling that can probably never be simulated.

So why would I buy an Axe FX over a POD when it's so much more expensive? Is the different audible?

I think it sounds better, has more features etc... But of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I checked it out... It's a rack system... I think that's not for me. I don't have a rack storage. Heh... I'll stay with my XT Live for now... Until I get the urge to go X3!!! Heheh...
