Hi guys!
The new Schroeder Guitars website is live!
I understand that a few people have had issues viewing galleries or clicking on the navigation buttons at the top of the screen.
Has anyone had these or similar issues? I want to be sure we address any problems, so please let me know!
Thanks!

Looks good!
the nav works fine for me on IE8 but only the custom order and 'in action' galleries actually load pictures.

Are you talking about the new front page that comes up at SchroederGuitars.com? If so I'm getting to a page that I can only get onto your flikr, youtube, myspace pages down on the right hand corner. Otherwise I'm stuck at this page:
http://sg.clients.zeropx.com/

Goof, yes, that is supposed to be our new site, not just a front page. We have quite a bit of new stuff on the site, we just have to have our web guy look into it to figure out why it isn't loading correctly or giving you navigation buttons to the rest of the site.

Yep, I think Pai nailed it. It's the browser. I'm on Safari on my Mac and all navigation buttons are perfect. I tried on IE and no go. Couldn't see any navigation buttons

LOL it actually can 'never' be the browser. Whoever coded the website has to account for the fact that IE and Firefox and Opera are parsing and interpreting the code being used differently. One would wish you could tell the IE user hey switch to Firefox to see my webpage. Or upgrade to IE 10 etc. But you can't so Web developers have to 'jury rig' ways to make their stuff work on all browsers on 'all' versions of that browser. I'm glad I don't face that headache!

I utilize IE on both my work and home PC...but now that I now it works with Firefox I'll give that a try just so I can see it for now.
ON EDIT: uploaded Firefox and took a look around...VERY NICE!! Was pretty cool to see my old body as the guitar you chose for the SC page.

Many times I don't get smilies pics , just words. Even after inserting the smiley (word) it shows up as a word and not a smiley in the post...................

Yikes!!! That is a serious issue. We will address it. Thanks for letting us know.
By the way, I don't think we have an action shot of that guitar and it's owner, either! Uh oh...

when you click on "models" the alignment of the 4 main shap names tends to get a bit off after you go into one of the model shapes.

Could you tell me what browser you're using? I can't recreate this with Firefox or Chrome. IE still has some layout issues for some reason. I'll see what the web guy says about it.
Thanks,

Yep, Internet Explorer. From my old days of doing web design, how was the website created? Dreamweaver? Front Page? Notepad?:o Or some new software that I'm not updated with?
Many of those WYSIWYG editors add proprietry codes to the base html page, that doesnt' work with some browsers. Frontpage is usually the key culprit for such cases, but pages created by FP should work well with IE. You would have to manually clean up the code to get it to work easily on many browsers.

It was created with Drupal and I know nothing about it. I'm an old-school Notepad kinda gal myself. I have an interface that lets me modify only certain things (like add guitars to the galleries). Even that frustrates me and I end up using it's HTML feature as I just don't get along well with high level stuff. But it won't let me at the main interface code though. Just as well because I'm a total dinosaur used to assembly language and dedicated platforms.
I reminded the web developer that we still have multiple issues with IE.

Well, is he young? Hahaha... If so, then he's probably dependent on an editor... What on earth is Drupal? I did assembly language as well. You're talking about Unix based systems right? Hahaha... I'm sort of like that too. Most of the languages I learnt Aren't even in use anymore! Cobol anyone?
Damn... I'm way out of touch... I think I'll stick to my guitars...:p

I did assembly language as well. You're talking about Unix based systems right? Well I did C under unix except for the odd device driver. The assembly language was on mainframes (gasp) or embedded systems that had no other OS. You were, essentially the OS.

Yeah I did my share of Cobol back in the day. I drew the line at RPG though. ;->

My memory of assembly wan't even C. It was the 3 or 4 lettered codes you used to interface with an 8086 microprocessor or 6811 microcontroller. Lings like STA, STB, LDA LDB, etc etc...

It does on all the other pages. I wonder if it has to do with this forum being old code from the original site. I'll put it on the list.
Thanks,

You're absolutely right. I just haven't done that much of it under unix. Mostly C for unix. Most people considered that a "mid-level" language at that time. Today, who knows?
Assembly/assembler is indeed always 3 or 4 letter mnemonics. I did 6502, 8080, 8085, 8086, Z80 and then settled happily into the 68000 series. I just never really jelled with Intel architecture. Though when I got my first computer I was so broke I couldn't afford the assembler. I had to program my Apple II in hex machine code...LOL. Hey, what did I know? It was 1979 and I was just psyched to have it, stripped down as it was.

Athena, you're probably one of the very few people I've spoken to who can actually attest that the Motorola 68 series is actually superior to the Intel 80 series. I had so much more fun working with the 6805s and 6811s than i did with the 8086. The 80 series somehow felt "dumb" by motorola standards, but I guess that's not how the market views it today.
Hex? well, at leasat you didn't have to do it in binary!

Market? Like they even care. I read somewhere Intel came in with the lowest bid, so they got the contract for the initial IBM PC. It was never about the "best" architecture, unfortunately. Motorola rocks! Memory-mapped I/O is the way to go. Some people say it's because I cut my teeth on a 6502 as an impressionable kid. But I still thing the 68x series was the best.

LOL... you're right. I think I'd have drawn the line there.

Erm... The gallery has gone all wonky... The images are beginning to show up as crosses. Sadly, I know. And I'm pelting the web guy as we speak. As far as I can tell, the image files are still there. It's something pointing to them that's gone wonky.
Thanks,

I think I have the galleries fixed now. If anyone finds an "X" anywhere (indicating that an image won't load), please post something here and/or e-mail me or Jason.
Thanks,
Athena
