Dear Jason,

First I would like to say that I really appreciate what you are doing. Your guitars look gorgeous and it makes me feel good that I know you build them with all your passion for guitars.
I've a question to you. I was looking on your picture collection and saw that you build a replica of a PRS Santana.
This is the one I'm referring to:

My question is if you also build a replica of a PRS if a customer (in my case, me) would ask that to you. I would really love to own a sort of private stock PRS but don't wanna spend 10k or more on a "real" PRS private stock. A custom build replica (if I use that word correctly) would be very great.
My question is if it would be possible to build a replica of a PRS like this one:

http://www.prsguitars.com/showcase/private/guitars/ps502.jpg

If that's the case....I'm going to save all money from now on :!: 8)

what would be the price (estimate) of such a guitar with specs:

Flamed Maple top/Mahagony body.
Indian rosewood neck.
Ebony fingerboard
Bird inlay
Eagle in headstock
PRS Soapbar pickups
Gold anodized stop tail

Thank you and keep up the good work!

I am sorry but I cannot make you a replica of a PRS. I made that Santana-esque guitar for myself years ago. It is still in my possession. I did things to make sure it was never mistaken for a PRS like put 3 P90s in it, made it 25" scale, and Braz RW neck (at the time I built that guitar, I had never seen a Santana with a rosewood neck, 3 P0 pickups or 25" scale). I believe a couple have been made since in the Private Stock program. In fact, Carlos has a red flamed Santana model with maple neck and 3 P90s!! I also made it a 23 fret model and inlaid Carlos' face on the back plate.

What is it about that Private Stock, specifically, that appeals to you? Beautiful guitar by the way.

Sorry, as for costs... please check out my website where you will find a price schedule at

Birds and eagle inlays would not be possible. How about turtles or puppies? Or a car? :D

Hi Jason,

It was the answer I already expected a bit. I don't even know if it is allowed to make a replica guitar when you don't keep it for yourself. But I'm happy I asked it to you.

What I really like about that Private stock is the colour and the soapbars in combination with the PRS body and neck ( I really like the PRS design).
The design of your guitars are also beautifull, but I really like the PRS design.

Jason, keep up the good work, I really like all the guitars you built so far!

You know, Jayjay, maybe you can't get the eagle inlay and stuff, but Jason's double cut design is PRS0ish enough to fit the bill. And you can get inlays of your choice, instead of the Eagle. Bottom line, Jason won't do a PS knockof, but he can make a killer PS-quality JZS for cheaper!

Hi Dan,

Actually I'm really thinking about saving money to buy a doublecut Schroeder guitar, I dig them! It can take some time untl I've saved enough money, but better within a reasonable time, than never.

Jason, would the color on this guitar not be a problem on a Schroeder doublecut?

Thanks everyone!

I have always loved that particular PS. That color is attainable with a double stain technique where I would first stain it a brownish color, sand most of that off, then apply a yellow/amber over it to achieve that look.

jayjay...there is actually a piece of flamed maple with that same tiger stripe look you want in the JS lumber yard...here is the thread where you can see it...#723

with the right stain/color on that wood, you would have the look you want for sure :D
