Nice to see the clay awaiting the caress of the sculptor.
It sounds corny, but that's kinda how I feel. I'm looking forward to seeing the progress pix. Not only of mine, but all of them! Knowing that one of them is mine just keeps me from getting too jealous. Fine work, my friend. Your time is well spent. It IS art. :D

BUMP....Sorry, but being the smartass that I am, I just had to do it! I know that Jason's been working HARD on the guitars, cases etc., so it's been slow on here. Just showing my true colors I guess, hehe!

LOL Not yet. I dug the tour guitar though. His original Chopper was pretty damn cool too.
I owe my next million paychecks to one builder. Lemme get those squared away first.... :D

Thanks Guys! As for the color, I'm PRETTY sure I know what I'm getting. Silly as it seems, I'm going to keep it under wraps until I've decided, or maybe until it's done. I know the color I'd like to go with, but can't help thinking, "natural WOULD look great too!"http://www.schroederguitars.com/forums/images/icons/icon7.gif

I've been carving the last few days. I always carve the butt end first then do teh cutaways and work back from there. Then I will do the pickup routes, neck pocket, etc. This quilt is absolutely stunning. Might be from the same board as Stu's. Has the same character.

I really like the sharp edge on the carve of the upper horn! I know it will get rounded, but I like the sharp look!

Isn't that a great work in progress pic??!! It's so cool to see a section carved and not carved on the same top. It really gives a good idea of the evolution of your top. Looks sweet!!

I thought I'd give you an update on the spec's for this guitar now that it is mine instead of Tony's. Obviously the body top and back woods are set. I have decided to go with a brazilian rosewood neck instead of the white korina that Tony was using. Jason is going to find me a nice colorful piece for the neck from his stash. I'm going with the "s" fretboard inlays and a natural headstock instead of an overlay. Also going with a brazilian electronics cover on the back and wooden control knobs. I'm supply some nickel/chrome covered WCR darkburst pickups with 4 conductor wires for coil splitting. Controls will be a basic 2 tone, 1 volume and 3 way toggle with push/pulls on the tone knobs for the coil splitting.
The only thing that I have not decided upon is the color. Any suggestions? I also have a deposit placed for a singlecut model but I'll save the specs on that one until we've at least selected wood for it.

I guess people have opinons of different elements effecting tone (wood choice, hardware, pups, etc), but color, totally just a cosmetic opinion. Personally I like browns and blacks, not a big fan of "colors". But again, just a personal opinion.

I have decided on a color for my doublecut. It is going to be inspired by a Thorn guitar which I like quite a bit. Ron Thorn calls the color Burnt Orange. Here is a Thorn guitar in this color:
http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h81/paulpuck68/071-top.jpg
I think the color is a variation of tiger eye with more emphasis on the oranges. Ron was kind enought of give me basic principles for the color as a guide for Jason (if he needs them.) I'm planning on a colorful brazilian neck and fretboard which I think will go nicely with then top color.
