I just came home to that strange shaped box that we all know and love. I decided to take all of the pics on the front porch to give you guys a glimpse of what to expect when your guitar arrives.

My first impression is that this is a fantastic case!! Very solid feeling latches. MUCH more substantial than a lot of cases we tried out. Plush lining. Seems like the Cordura covering is going to be very durable. And it looks great too. There is just a certain timelessness about it. It looks like a case that could have come out of the 30s or the 2010s!! Very cool classic looking case.

It also has a humidity control system, complete with a digital hygrometer (humidity monitor) and thermometer.

Wow! That is really sweet! Are the final cases going to be form fitted on the inside to the basic body shapes?

Kev

P.S. I did notice that there sure is a lot of room on the headstock side for those upcoming 12-string orders.

I think you guys will be really happy with these cases. I am not totally decided on the color scheme but I really like the features and quality. I want to make sure that there is no other case like yours!

Hey Kev! Hope all is well with you. Yes, the case is big enough for a 12 string headstock AND even for Shad's baritone!! I am stoked about that.

Regarding form fitting, at this point, with the different body shapes, this will be the case design. The costs go up quite a bit for form fitting each body style. But it is a snug fit and there is enough give in the padding that even the thicker bodies fit well in the case.

VERY CLASSY! I have to admit when you mentioned Cordura, I thought it was going to be one of those foam-filled "hardshell gig bags", which would have been a let down. A pleasant surprise indeed!
I DO have a suggestion though. If you go with black, or another common color on the inside, it would be very easy for us to make closed-cell foam "pads" covered with fake fur, that is available at any fabric store & Velcro or hot glue them in to make them form fit. As I told you I did this with some NOS Guild solid body cases that I bought (from the huge 80's "metal" models)& they look like they were made to fit the guitars I put in them.
Just an idea.
You've just given me yet another reason that I'm glad Stu recommended you to me(yes, it's his fault you have me to deal with, hehe!)! You never cease to amaze! Thanks SO much!

J

WOO HOO!! I'm stoked too :D

I'm glad you took the open case pic with the tour guitar in it, it gave me a good idea that "007" would fit in there.
Thanks for the nice case selection :)

Thats the case my PS singlecut prototype came in, PRS was using the ameritage cases early on in the PS program. Mine is LP shaped case because the SC was not a production model yet and hence no PRS case.

Here is the headstock and in the ameritage case, I need to take pics of it sitting in its case.

Jason, On a side note, you might want to delete the picture with your "stash" in the big zip-lok bag. EVERYBODY doesn't need know what your "regular" job is, hehe!

ROTFLMAO!!

Also....This case offers an unforseen bonus. Because of the humidifier, you now have a place to keep your cigar purchases hidden from your wife. LOL!!!

I never use the humidifier, don't need it with electrics

Even though it's electric, it's still made of wood. Wouldn't change in climate\humidity affect ever wood instrumnet to a certain degree?

Absolutely. The key word there is *change*. Here in Pittsburgh, my guitars can be subject to wide humidity swings. In the summer the humidity in the house is low because I have AC. When I go to an outdoor gig, the guitar goes from about 25-30% humidity, to 90%. It can really wreak havoc on a guitars ability to hold tuning. Even the most seasoned wood is still going to move in this example. Having a humidity controlled case is a very nice feature for a gigging musician in my area. I have even considered getting a guitar with a composite neck for outdoor gigs.

yes I know they go out of tune, thats why I have a tuner

but as oppose to my acoustics, none of my electrics have cracked due to the change in humidity, and I have lived all over the US.

Tuners don't help in the middle of a song in front of 500-1000 people....and there is only so much time in between songs that a singer can fill before a crowd starts to get uneasy. A humidifier won't solve these problems, but it can lessen the severity of the humidity swing.

I have had several electrics get finish checking due to humidity changes, especially nitro guitars after a few years. Poly and Poly mixes are less prone to this.

Acoustics are much more sensitive to this, that much is true...but that doesnt mean that electrics are immune to the effects.

very nice choice in case Jason...only thing I would wish for is a molded one for the guitar but I understand why it can't be done :)

well locking tuners help, but hey I've gone out of tune in front of large crowds, but hasn't anyone? Specially my LPs with those klusons, they won't even hold tune when I'm bending, unless I've got the strings wrapped around the tuners 100X and even that. Even broken strings live, but hey thats live entertainment. Guess thats why only a real floyd keeps things in tune.

Checking, I agree, but isn't that a plus on guitars, hell the Gibson and Fender custom shops charge extra to do that!

I'm not trying to disagree with you, but humidity control for electrics, well I think is a bit exaggerated. IMHO.

I dig the design of the cases. However, I'd prefer a dark color, perhaps a black, to conceal bumps and bruises for the touring guys and girls.
