Ok, this forum needs some new threads. Since we are getting a boutique guitar made and we are waiting, except Bryan, how many of you own other boutique guitars from small builders and what is your fav and specs. Please no PRS, they are not a boutique builder anymore.

I'll start off

Baker 7 string with speicial trem, BRW neck, one peice quilt top, korina body, pearl binding built by hand by Gene Baker for Matte Henderson and now belongs to me. This guitar is insane, I never thought I would love a 7 string like this.

So far, this Schroeder is my 4th custom guitarÖ.and counting.

1. My first dive into the deep end was with Scott Heatley. He built me this extra thick 7 string hollowbody w piezo. Her name is Fatty, and I keep her tuned ADADGAD.

2. Well, custom #2 is a bolt-on neck Heatley with the same neck dimensions as Fatty (2 1/8î neck width at nut, 26 æî scale length). I sent it out to get one of those swirly paint jobs and an inlay. I hope to have it by xmas.

3. Custom #3, my most recent, is a Soloway Swan LN-7 with bubinga top, swamp ash back, and cocobolo fret board. It is very light and well balanced. I keep it tuned AEADGBE.
I also picked up Jimís prototype Fargen Soloway Classic jazz combo amp. They make a sweet pair indeed!

Shad, I saw that Heatley being built when I was at Scott's shop, he has just started on it, from I remembered. I played a hollowbody he had just finished and it was killer and heavy too. Scott is a great builder and terrific guy, he lives 5 min away from my brother in law.

Both your heatley and swan are sweet, next time I'm down your way visiting Stu, I got to try out those babies.

Thanks Will!!

That's cool you got to check out Scott's shop. Judging from the pictures i've seen, it certainly looks like beautiful country up there.

Next time you're in town, I would love to catch up with you and Stu (and everyone else).......now cough up some more pics Doc :D

That Heatley is bad assed...I love Scotts work. I had a Heatley Tradition that I bought used. Fit and finish was as good as anything I have ever owned, but the neck just wasn't my thing. The original owner ordered it with a smaller neck and a V shape...just the opposite of what I like. It sounded fantastic and was a killer guitar in every way. I also love his neck joint....fantastic guitars in every way.

Wow, some great guitars already! I guess I've got two right now (one in progress).

The first is my Thorn, #091. Quick specs are: Mahogany neck/body (chambered), quilt top (in Pimp Daddy Purple-thanks Big Mike!), 24 3/4" scale with compound radius/ebony board, WCR Goodwood pickups. I love this guitar!

And my Baker Robben Ford in progress. The RF is a chambered mahogany body, spruce top, maple neck with an ebony board, Seymour Duncan p/u's, the typical RF specs. Here's an in progress shot from a few weeks ago:

Man, I can't wait to see Gene's new guitars finished. I saw some of the guitars he is building and they are going to be killer.

Well the only boutique guitars I own now, are my Driskills.
The sustain on these guitars are insane, nothing comes close. That is one thing that gets me when I play them, the Sustain.

I owned Thorn 40 until recently.... undoubtedly a class guitar but I wasn't 100% vibing with it, sent it back to the US to it's proud new owner a week or two ago.

I have this thing sat in B.C. at Scott's place, waiting to come to me.... been done for a while now, still waiting on the case for it to arrive!

Jason's will be my 3rd 'boutique'.... actually, probably 4th by the time it gets here, hee hee. :D
