Hey Guys!
A quick note. I have just shared a couple of emails with Matt Artinger of Artinger Guitars(www.artingerguitars.com) and he is going to be servicing the Tour guitar. I am so grateful to Matt for taking the time to do this. He is a class act for sure and builds an incredible guitar. Last I heard the buckle rash is pretty bad on the Tour guitar (which hopefully is an indication that it is getting played a lot!) but is otherwise holding up well! After Matt goes through it, it will be going to Johnny Boy in New York, then Dave Graham in MA, then it begins its journey back toward the west coast. If you have not reserved your place in the tour and want to PLEASE let me know soon.
By the way, here is John Cowan's review of the Tour guitar from BAM...

Very cool Matt is giving the gutiar a tune up. Also great he guitar is getting played as much as admired, but guys......turn your buckle, pull you shirt over it, or wear suspenders

The buckle rash isn't bad. There is some very minor worming on the back that was there when I received the guitar, but it is nothing to worry about IMHO. The rest of the guitar is perfect. Shad had the guitar for about a day before I had it, so I know it wasn't done by him. Either way, the guitar is getting gigged, and the wear on the back isn't anything outrageous.
The only comment that I would make concerning the guitars care is that people remember that the guitar is supposed to represent Jasons best work, and entice prospective buyers. I did my best to set the guitar up properly and clean it up before I sent it out. When I got the guitar, the strings were a foot off the board, the guitar was filthy, and neck pickup ring was on backwards (this one still has me scratching my head)
Here is a pic of the back that I took before I sent the guitar out...as you can see, the worming doesn't even show up in the pic.

Hey guys,
It is really hard to tell what the buckle rash looks like from the pics. I am really not that concerned as I expect it to be played. I think it would be very difficult for a guitar to be gigged and not have a bit of wear on it when it was done. As long as no one is doing Pete Townsend tricks on it or lighting it on fire I am sure it will just like a like a guitar that has toured the countr! :) If you guys see something really wrong with it PLEASE let me know. I trust you all (or else I would never have done this) and feel it is more important how it sounds and plays than the finish being completely perfect!!
That said, I REALLY appreciate you guys looking out for it and especially the guys who have taken the time to spiff it out before the next guy receives it.

I have been talking to Matt Artinger who has gone through the guitar and he says that the finish issues on the back are really not that bad which was a big relief. Again, a HUGE thanks to Matt for taking the time from his busy scedule to set up the guitar and make sure it is running ok!

Told ya! LOL!!!!! Now stop believing those artsy fartsy cork sniffing bedroom players who have corinaries when a fleck of dust touches their prized instruments and listed to guys who GIG with their guitars! ROTFLMAO!! (The following comment was made with my tongue firmly planted in my cheek...just clearing the air for the humor impaired.  :D )

The Tour Guitar has spent a few days with Matt Artinger, it was setup again and should be good to go! It is now on its way to John in New York. Stay tuned...

Beautiful! I read something about a pickup change? What's the guitar loaded with now?

Hey John!
The pickups are Wagner Goodwoods. When you first saw the guitar at the Forum Jam I had Wagner Shredders in it.
As far as I know the guitar got to New York OK!

Ah, you must have liked the way my purple Thorn sounded with the Goodwoods...
That guitar is fantastic, but I can understand going with a bit less hot pickup in it.
