Hey everyone, the Tour Guitar has safely landed in upstate New York. I have the benefit of being the first recipient after a tune up by Matt Artinger so she is in prime form. First impression was wow, nice case!! Cool touch with all the signatures and geographic locations, it'll be cool to see pics of the case when the guitar is finally retired! Reminded me of that Bugs cartoon when he heaves a baseball around the world and he catches it covered with stickers from all over.
The guitar itself is stunning and is a sight to see upon opening the tweed case. I was immediately struck with how the finish is even more lively and 3D than all of the various pics have shown. I must say what impressed me the most was the look of the limba back and how beautifully it mates to the maple top with the binding. I tried to include a couple of pics to show how nice this really looks. The finish work is simply first rate and I knew right away I had made the right choices. I should mention here that my particular Schroeder will be similair to the Tour Guitar in many respects so this is a great sneak peek for me especially. I hope Jason can make my top "pop" the way this guitar does; again it must be seen in person to get a true appreciation of the beauty of the top.
Ah, the neck! Really feels "right" in my hand. I have large but thin hands and neck carve is not really an issue for me but we all know how some necks just feel natural as you maneuver based on your own particular playing style. This is one of those for me. Great tone in concert with the ebony fretboard as well; notes articulate beautifully and sound crisp and clear. Sounds great through both clean and gain channel of my Zinky Blue Velvet. Again it was just given an overhaul so it's good to go for me.
That's it for now, I'll post some additional thoughts after more experimenting. Jason, thanks again for instituting this tour, it's a pleasure playing your creation!!!
