This is not the most exciting pic but it shows the way the rabbit is cut into the top so I have a guide when I carve it.

As an amature luthier I really appreciate all the great pics Jason! I would really like any advice or further insight into your top carving procedure; tools, technique etc...

What kind of density does Limba wood have? What is the tonal characteristics of that wood? I'm going to have guitar built and am curious about the combinations of the tonal woods. I know my preference will have a quilted maple top but the rest I'm going to have to be schooled on.

Here is your inlay Chun. It is resting on your fingerboard (not inlaid yet). We are thinking of doing a silver (aluminum) outline to offset the black on black.

Life is all about balance, and we, as human and supposely more intelligent beings than animals, are supposed to know what it takes to keep our world free. May the Yin and Yang symbol reminds everybody how fragile a balance can be, music being the best way to share our feelings !
Thanks for your support guys !

Great progress on your guitar today Chun!! Here is your body completed...

Here is the neck on the body for a feel of what the guitar will look like...
http://www.schroederguitars.com/photos/Chun%20SC/chun.jpg
And here are a couple of pics of the yin-yang symbol on the fretboard. It is onyx and white pearl with an aluminum ring surrounding it. I learned this little trick from Joe Driskill that if you leave a bit of the fingerboard exposed in the fret slot, you reduce the risk of shattering your inlay material when you fret the guitar. This bit of the fingerboard will be covered by the fret. I re-radiused the board after completed the inlay to sand the inlay flat with the finerboard. It woud need to be fin sanded prior to fretting so you can still see the 80 grit sanding scratches.

Here are some photos of the inlay process.
The initial cavity is cut:
http://www.schroederguitars.com/photos/Chun%20SC/inlay/chun%20inlay1.jpg
The center piece is fit and the outer routes are complete. Looks pretty rough at this point! You can see the paper still superglued to the top of the inlay itself that was used as a guide for cutting it out:
http://www.schroederguitars.com/photos/Chun%20SC/inlay/chun%20inlay3.jpg
All the shell and onyx are fit here with room left for the aluminum ring:
http://www.schroederguitars.com/photos/Chun%20SC/inlay/chun%20inlay4.jpg
The outer rings are in place and ready to be glued:
http://www.schroederguitars.com/photos/Chun%20SC/inlay/chun%20inlay6.jpg
Schroeder

I actually flat sanded the inlay at this point and then had to widen the slot where the middle aluminum pieces would go. I wanted to make sure that the aluminum was in line after all the pieces were in place.
http://www.schroederguitars.com/photos/Chun%20SC/inlay/chun%20inlay7.jpg
And after the initial flat sanding (using a radius beam):

Flat sanding the inlay is one of the most gratifying processes because this ugly mess of uneven metal, wood, glue, paper, shell, stone becomes uniform and almost perfect. It is similar to the satisfaction of mowing a lawn!! Only you don't have to re-level an inlay in a week!! :D

Hi Jason, Elizabeth,,
It's been more than a year that I've got the baby now, and quite frankly, it is the Best guitar I've ever owned ! Right up there with the Baker n°24 I've got.
Sound is thick but clean, a lot of dynamics and warmth, the clean sound can by crystal clear and with the distortion, waow, unleash the best !
Thank you for building me my dream guitar !
