My name is Dave. I am new to this site. Jason is building my son Ryan an SC. You can follow it under our last name which is Merkley. The more I look at the pictures and read the comments by you guys, I can tell you I am becoming intrigued by the possiblity of ordering another guitar and possibly a chopper. I thought it would be fun to float the question "best reason to go with a chopper?" for a couple of reasons. First, it would give you guys a chance to educate us newer guys on something you have been turned onto a lot longer. Second, it would definately help me in making the decision to go forward. Look forward to getting your input.

There's nothing like being the first one on your block with one.
They look killer
They feel killer
I'm sure they sound killer, though I've never gotten to plug one in. But if it's anything like my Double Cut no worries in the sound department.

Go for it!!

Hey Dave!
For me it is a great compromise between a singlecut and a doublecut. You get better access to the upper frets than a singlecut because the where the body meets the neck on the bass side. But you still get the large surface area for the neck joint which I believe translates to a more Gibson-like, fat tone. I also love the 3-way switch position on the Chopper - again same as a singlecut but with more upper fret access. The guitar balances very well with the strap button in almost the idential position as a doublecut. I have been playing my original yellow guitar since about 1995 and it is still my go to guitar.

I really need to get a Chopper Tour Guitar out!!!

Hi Dave.
A Chopper is definitely my next order. #1, I love the way it looks. #2 I have learned something from my experience of having Jason build my first Schroeder (http://www.schroederguitars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=944). I TOTALLY trust his judgement. Whenever I had an internal conflict with a choice for my guitar, Jason knew what direction to stear me. Every bit adivice Jason gave me was 100% dead on. When It comes to the Chopper, Jason has told me many times, "It just works". That's good enough for me (and did I mention I love the way it looks :).)

The carved portion of the neck is about 1" longer on the chopper because of where the neck joins the body.

Yep in Philly.
If you want to drop by some time feel free. Although not sure where in NJ you are right now.
(you also may have seen I bought Roberto from Snoopy/Mike and am looking to sell it on.)

Very cool another Schroeder coming to the NJ\Pa|Ny area. Jason should just set up a shop in the North East to cut down shipping costs :) We will have to do a Schroeder Jam next year when all the North East guitars are shipped out. Good luck with Redwood DC.

Can you say "Hollow Body Chopper with double S holes"?

I am asking myself this same question right now.... More traditional Singlecut or Chopper....

Either way, I'm pretty sure the winner will be me.

I'll say it again...you really can't understand that Chopper design until you try one. I've got one...wanna try / buy?
