Default My Radio Lane

Well after traveling across the country twice, spending a week in San Diego (man I could get used to that place) I finally had time to sit down and really play my Radio Lane.

So what do I think? Glad you asked.

I am very, very happy. I'll write up a proper review and post it later. Right now I gotta go play my guitar

Yes, this one:

Here's the quick and dirty review:

The burst on this guitar is so well done. I love the ridge up the middle and the fade is so much better than your average 3 color fade. The burst just enhances the flame and provides so much depth and 3D effect. I have a few PRS but I would say that this burst and finish is the nicest one I own, or have seen for a looooooooong time.

So its a looker but every beauty has to have some substance right? Well this one has substance, TONS of it. The fit and finish is easily on par with my PRS (personally I think the finish is a couple levels above PRS) and much better than my Gibby and Strat. I really like the neck. I like a neck with some heft but it also has to be playable. This one fits right in my sweet spot. I think the best thing I can say about this neck shape is that after a few hours of constant play its still nice and comfortable.

So how's the tone? It's awesome. I love the tone but I confess that after seeing those clips of Min's singlecut with those WCR's I have been tempted to drop a set in mine BUT, pup tone aside, this guitar has something that is way beyond a set of pickups. It just rings. Meaning that I can almost feel every individual note. My PRS ring and my Gibby and Strats ring some but none of them ring like this one. Its like its one piece of wood. I can almost feel a wrong note before I can hear it. Does that make any sense? Well it does to me anyway . Maybe I just got lucky with some great wood or maybe Jason is part wood wizard but whatever happend, I like it!

When I opened the case I thought I had found something very special. When I first played it I was pretty sure I had a great guitar and now that I have been able to really play it, I know I have a special guitar.

Thanks again Jason and Elizabeth. I will be back for another one.

Hey Rob,
Thanks for the review!! I always felt like this guitar was the underdog of Summer NAMM! There were other guitars that were a bit fancier that got the quick attention and this one was more traditional. Really glad that you "get" what was trying to accomplish with it! Have fun with her! Glad she is in good hands.
Jason

This was my favorite at the NAMM and the one I ended up playing the most when people weren't asking me to play specific ones.

There is something about the way Jason hand carves all these necks...the fact that he holds them and tweaks them till they feel right goes a LONG ways in the end when the buyer has it in their own hands

Thanks guys. The more that I play this guitar the more I am really bonding with it. I think I need a chopper or a double cut now

One question though, what do you recommend for a cleaner that is safe for the nitro?

In the same note, what is UNSAFE with nitro? I'd kind of like to know also. Thanx, J.

Other than unicorn tears? ;-) My favorite and one that I use the most is Dunlop 65. But with nitro, the cloth you use is more important than the polish. Softest you can find is always best. As for what not to use, again it goes back to the cloth. Don't use burlap or anything with zippers. You get the point. As for reactivity with nitro, be very careful with masking tape adhesive - this will react with the finish and leave marks. Some guitar stands will have the same effect. If you are unsure whether or not the rubber padding on a stand is safe with nitro use a soft cloth between the guitar and the stand at those points.

By the way, that picture is amazing Rob! Very cool angle of the ridgeburst and bridge.
